Channels

The nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.

Gush

Walking through the woods in early spring, you can better notice singular details.

Things aren't yet overgrown.

There's a bare beauty that happens right before the greening.

Ever follow that which is good

Days of running through clover fields are fast approaching.

Days of pansies growing in the middle of the lawn.

Wild honey days, alfalfa days.

Days that take your hand and trail off.

Correspondences

Such a beautiful book. The kind you're meant to spread out across the table, the floor. All the pages open and speaking in togetherness.

I'm not concerned about bent edges or sweeping debris. Books should be able to handle a journey.

Especially one such as this, with its accordion design that invites touch; the rich collaboration between artists and forms, between listening and answering, between voices that carry and layer like love.

Wishing jar

Last September I picked a dandelion from the yard and stuck it in a jar.

I've spent the past few months walking by its nodding stem, its seed head puckered for a kiss.

The gentlest wind could've come knocking, but hasn't.

Until now. Sometimes I think I only know what I'd wish for the moment one comes true.
